| Cars can be a pain in the butt! | | The car I own is a 1995 Neon. I have had it over a year and it is pain in the butt! Since I owned it I have had a new oxygen sensor put in. A new transmission put in.Had work done on the engine, like on the valves nad had a new head gasket put on! Had new caliphers put on the front brakes. Now I find out there is something wron with the transmission and I need to take that in to the mechanics who put it in! I found this out yesterday when the new oxygen sensor was put in! I'm not happy! It seems to be one thing after the other with this car! I wish I could afford a better car but can't afford it! I just wish I would own a car that wasn't a pain in the butt! Wishful thinking on my apart! | |

It will run fine for a few miles then just die like all power is taken away and sometimes it will shudder and die. This usually occurrs when at very low rpm like waiting at a stop sign. I've changed fuel filter, oxygen sensor, had the mass air flow sensor checked, timing is good etc ....frustrated.

It is making a sputtering/shaking noise at all speeds, but especially while in drive. The cylinder head and timing belt where replaced about six months ago. I also jus barely replced the alternator drive belt and put in a new oxygen sensor. nOthing worked. CAN U HELP? iT IS A sohc, automatic transmission, 2.0 L. it has 145,700 miles on it. | | Tips for saving money on gas | | 1. Find a bargain. If you're taking a summer road trip, plan out your route before you go. Identify gas stations along the way that have the lowest prices. When I stopped in a beach town last week to fill up my car I didn't plan like I should have (I almost ran out of gas), and it cost me the most I'd ever paid for gas -- $3.85 a gallon. Next time I'll go to GasBuddy.com, a site that lets consumers share gas price information easily, and find a better deal before I head for the beach.2. Keep your tires fully inflated. The U.S. Department of Energy reports that the average driver can improve mileage by 3.3 percent simply by inflating their vehicle's tires regularly. In fact, according to the AAA, under-inflated tires are the No. 1 way we waste gas. One out of every four cars and one out of every three pickups, vans, and SUVs have at least one extremely low tire. So pick up a tire gauge at your local auto parts store and check your tire pressure whenever you pull into a service station for gas. Your car's owner's manual will tell you the recommended PSI -- pounds per square inch -- rating.3. Get a tune-up.A vehicle in need of servicing is wasting gas in more...

| What does the computer in a car do? | | All cars manufactured today contain at least one computer. It is in charge of monitoring engine emissions and adjusting the engine to keep emissions as low as possible. The computer receives information from a many different sensors, including: * The oxygen sensor * The air pressure sensor * The air temperature sensor * The engine temperature sensor * The throttle position sensor * The knock sensor * The oxygen sensor Using the information from these sensors, the computer can control things like the fuel injectors, spark plugs and the idle speed to get the best performance possible from the engine while keeping emissions low. The computer can also sense when something has gone wrong and can inform the driver with the "Check Engine" light. A mechanic can read a diagnostic code from the computer and fix the problem.Depending on how expensive the car is, there can be all sorts of other computers. For example: * There is probably a computer controlling the automatic transmission * If the car has anti-lock brakes, there is a computer reading the wheel speed and controlling the brakes * Many air bag systems have their own... | |
| | Does anyone have a 2005 neon? | | My check engine light is on, and don't know why. I had the codes read and it said I needed a new oxygen sensor, so I replaced it, and it's still on. The other problem is when I turn the air on it boggs down the engine and sometimes stalls it. Any ideas? | |
